A record number of participants took part in an annual downtown Penticton run last month en route to raising $34,000 for the Okanagan Similkameen Neurological Society's (OSNS) Child and Youth Development Centre.
The Wildstone Construction Group's ninth annual Colours 4 Kids Run welcomed 884 participants on Sunday, June 8.
Funds were raised through participant registrations, contributions from nine local business sponsors, and a matching gift from Wildstone Construction.
The colourful event challenged runners to take part in either a 2.5- or five-kilometre route along Lakeshore Drive.
Proceeds from the run will support pediatric rehabilitation programs by OSNS. The centre, located at 550 Carmi Ave. in Penticton, helps kids across the South Okanagan and Similkameen.
Megan Windeler, community engagement lead at OSNS, said the centre was "overwhelmed" by the event's turnout.
