Downtown Kelowna sees boost in RCMP, bylaw patrols this summer

Kelowna RCMP and bylaw services are stepping up their presence in the downtown for the busy summer season.

With events, tourists, and warm-weather activities returning, the city is boosting its community safety presence downtown and elsewhere. RCMP officers and bylaw services are increasing patrols and extending hours.

Bylaw Services has expanded its operations through the end of August. Patrols on foot, bike, and in vehicles will run daily from 6 a.m. to midnight. Officers will focus on high-traffic areas like downtown, the Rail Trail, Rutland, and city parks, especially on weekends and during major events like Canada Day.

The RCMP is also stepping up its game.

RCMP summer operations include more foot patrols in key areas, as well as bike, boat, and ATV patrols to cover harder-to-reach spots. Youth officers will also be out on weekends. 

Community partners are also participating. The Downtown Kelowna Association and Uptown Rutland Business Association will continue their patrols and clean-up efforts to help keep public spaces safe and tidy.
