Kamloops RCMP searching for missing TRU student in Thompson River

'A man entered the river to retrieve a volleyball and got caught in the undercurrent'

Kamloops RCMP and Search and Rescue crews are looking for a man who disappeared in the Thompson River on Sunday (July 6) evening.

The incident happened around 5:14 p.m. near the North Shore just east of the Overlander Bridge. A group had been playing volleyball nearby.

香蕉视频直播淎ccording to the report a man entered the river to retrieve a volleyball and got caught in the undercurrent,香蕉视频直播 said Corporal Dana Napier, spokesperson for Kamloops RCMP. 香蕉视频直播淭wo more men from the group who entered the water to assist were also caught in the current. Two of the initial three were saved while the third appeared to be pulled away and went under the water.香蕉视频直播

The missing man is an international student at Thompson Rivers University. Police say his name is not being released at this time while efforts are made to contact his family.

香蕉视频直播淚nvestigators are working with the RCMP香蕉视频直播檚 Foreign Domestic Liaison Unit to contact his family, therefore to protect his privacy his name is not being released at this time,香蕉视频直播 Napier added.

RCMP Air Services and Search and Rescue teams are helping with the search.

Police are asking the public to be on the lookout along the riverbanks and contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 with any information. The file number is 2025-21574.
