All residents were able to get out safely but a fire caused damage to a Kelowna home on Tuesday evening.

Around 5:35 p.m. on Aug. 5, the Kelowna Fire Department (KFD) received a call of a house in the 1700 block of Spruceglen Drive.

The fire arriving officer saw visible smoke in the eves and at the front of the home upon arrival.

Fire crews were able to extinguish the blaze using several hose lines and ventilated the smoke out. However, the home suffered "significant damage," said KFD platoon captain Robert Skeldon.

The residents, as well as firefighters did not suffer any injuries. Emergency services attended the scene and helped the residents find a temporary accomodation.

KFD has investigated the scene and believe electrical issues were the cause. It has been deemed accidental.

In total, KFD had four engines, one rescue unit, and one command unit, totalling 22 personnel on scene. The RCMP and FortisBC also attended the scene.
