Lake Country RCMP Q2 report shows increase in several crimes

Increases were seen in violent and property offences and fraud

Crime in Lake Country saw a jump in several categories this spring, according to the RCMP香蕉视频直播檚 latest quarterly report.

From April to June, police recorded 57 violent offences, up from 42 in the first three months of the year. Cases involving threats and harassment nearly doubled, climbing from 11 to 20, while common assaults more than doubled from 12 to 25.

Mental health-related files also rose, with 25 in the second quarter compared to 16 in the first.

Property crime followed the same trend, increasing from 70 files in Q1 to 93 in Q2. That included five residential break-ins between April and June香蕉视频直播攖here were none in the previous quarter. Fraud cases also saw an uptick, jumping from 13 in Q1 to 22 in Q2.

On the roads, RCMP issued 177 traffic violation tickets in the spring, up from 133 earlier in the year. Officers handed out 15 immediate roadside prohibitions in Q2, down slightly from 21 in Q1.

The report goes to district council on Aug. 19.
