With Emergency Preparedness Week (May 4香蕉视频直播�10) around the corner, the Central Okanagan Emergency Operations Centre is reminding everyone that being ready for emergencies is a shared responsibility.

By knowing the risks, making a plan, connecting with your neighbours and preparing an emergency kit, you are taking responsibility for your safety and the safety of your friends and loved ones.香蕉视频直播�
Three simple things residents can do to get started:
- Know the Risks - are wildfires, floods, or severe storms common where you live? Take time to learn about the types of emergencies that could happen in your area and how they might affect your neighbourhood;
- Make a Plan - talk with your household and your neighbours. Decide where you香蕉视频直播檒l go in an emergency, how you香蕉视频直播檒l stay in touch, and who might need extra help. Having a clear plan means you香蕉视频直播檙e less likely to panic when it counts most;
- Build an Emergency Kit - make sure you have the basics: food, water, medications, important documents 香蕉视频直播� enough to last at least 72 hours. Don香蕉视频直播檛 forget supplies for your pets. Keep your kit in an easy-to-reach spot.
It香蕉视频直播檚 also a good idea to check insurance to make sure properties are covered for events such as fires or floods. Home insurance may help with temporary housing or meals if residents are forced to leave their homes. Businesses should also to bounce back faster after an emergency.
In the event of an evacuation, can help provide short-term essentials such as food, shelter, and clothing.
