'Miss El' has found her new home at the Eldorado Resort in Kelowna.

The 1948 de Havilland Beaver flew into the resort on July 23 after previously being restored and unveiled at the KF Centre for Excellence in February.

The aircraft is adorned with an image of 'Miss El' on the nose and was restored by Sealand Aviation Ltd. in Campbell River.

"It's a tribute to a very special part of Kelowna's heritage of the pageant of the Lady of the Lake for her creativity, ingenuity, and strength," the resort's brand manager, Tarynn Liv Parker, explained.

Pilot Jorgen Christinson called the plane a Canadian legend.

"It's serial number 33, so one of the earlier ones off the assembly line... The fact that it's still flying today is a real testament to the ability of the machine. They're renowned for their durability, their ease of handling, cargo carrying capacity, and just all around performance."

The Beaver will be on display at the Eldorado for everyone to check out, but will not be available to the public for charters.
