The municipality of Summerland has allocated $600,000 from its Electric Capital Reserve to replace an aging truck.
Recent annual inspections of the 1995 International digger derrick truck have shown serious problems in the aging vehicle.
These include cracks and weld failures in the outriggers, pole guide and lower boom, as well as structural deficiencies and minor hydraulic system repairs.
Jeremy Storvold, director of utilities for the municipality, said the truck is no longer safe to use.
