On May 16, Chase RCMP received an emergency SOS message from an iPhone in a remote area of the North Shuswap in what was an accidental lockdown situation.
"The individual reported that he had accidentally locked his keys in his vehicle," Const. Sarah Van Wilgenburg said in a media release. "And, without cell service, used the phone's SOS feature to call for help."
Officers were able to contact the individual's wife who confirmed she had also received the message and was sending out a friend with spare keys.
