Two suspects found you can ram, but you can't run after a multi-jurisdictional effort stopped them in their tracks near Sicamous.
At approximately 4 p.m. on June 11, a Sicamous RCMP officer saw a reportedly-stolen vehicle at a local gas station.
"When the officer attempted a traffic stop, the driver allegedly rammed the police vehicle and fled," BC RCMP spokesperson Cpl. James Grandy said in a release. "The officer wasn't injured and immediately coordinated a multi-unit response that included neighbouring Detachments, Police Dog Services (PDS), the Southeast District Emergency Response Team, BC Highway Patrol and Air Services."
Shortly after, officers located the suspect vehicle driving south on Highway 97A near Grindrod, where a tire-deflation device was deployed, safely stopped the vehicle. The two occupants were tracked by PDS teams and located nearby.
Sicamous RCMP are forwarding a report to Crown Counsel to the BC Prosecution Service.
"Thanks to the highly coordinated efforts of frontline officers and multiple specialized units, the suspects were taken into custody quickly and without injury to the public or our officers," Grandy said.
