A Vernon apartment building has been evacuated due to an apparent kitchen fire, with one person sustaining burns.
Smoke was in the air at Willow Manor on 35th Street near the Schell Motel around 3:45 p.m. Thursday, July 31.
The building was evacuated, and one patient could be seen being treated for burns.
An ambulance arrived shortly before 4 p.m. and the patient was loaded onto a stretcher.
Vernon Fire Rescue Services is currently on scene and the fire appears to be out. The smoke had dissipated prior to firefighters' arrival.
A pair of RCMP cruisers are also at the scene.
