The BC Commercial Liens Act allows a lien holder including garages, mechanics, repairers, and warehousers to secure payment for services such as repairs and storage of a vehicle. If payment is not made, the lien holder may enforce the lien by either selling the goods (following the ActÏã½¶ÊÓÆµÖ±²¥™s notice and sale requirements) or, if the debtor agrees, by keeping the vehicle or goods in satisfaction of the debt (following the ActÏã½¶ÊÓÆµÖ±²¥™s notice and sale requirements). The BC Commercial Liens Act and Section 192 of the Motor Vehicle Act also applies where a vehicle is abandoned on private property without the occupierÏã½¶ÊÓÆµÖ±²¥™s consent.
