Westside-Kelowna MLA Ben Stewart fought off tears as he announced his decision to step aside in order to allow Premier Christy Clark to run for the riding in a byelection.

To the editor:

I enjoyed Alistair WatersÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™ analysis of the BC Liberal leadership debate last weekend in Kelowna Ï㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥“ but I do have to take issue with his assessment that our party is treating the upcoming Kelowna West byelection as Ï㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥œa slam dunk.Ï㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥

Quite the opposite! My team and I are taking no vote for grantedÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥“working hard on the doors, the phones, and online to get our message to Kelowna West residents and earn their support.

WeÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™re putting in that hard work because so much is at stake. Kelowna West needs a strong, experienced MLA who can immediately start tackling our community prioritiesÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥“as part of a BC Liberal team that will stand up for a healthy, prosperous, and sustainable Okanagan. I hope to have the honour of continuing to serve the communities and region I love.

Our campaign is wide open to anyone who shares our vision and wants to get involved.

ThatÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™s all for now Ï㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥“ I have doors to knock on!

Ben Stewart,

BC Liberal Candidate, Kelowna West
