Burnaby golfer leading the way heading into final round at B.C. Juniors

17-year-old carries 13-stroke lead heading into Friday's final round at Victoria's Gorge Vale Golf Club

Zhehui Yu has one hand on the trophy 香蕉视频直播 but the battle for pride, podiums, and provincial team spots is still raging at Gorge Vale.

The 2025 B.C. Junior Girls Golf Championship wraps up Friday at the Esquimalt course, with Yu carrying a commanding 13-stroke lead into the final round.

The Burnaby North Secondary student set the tone early with a bogey-free 64 on Canada Day 香蕉视频直播 the lowest round of the tournament by far 香蕉视频直播 and followed it up with rounds of 71 and 74.

At -10 through 54 holes, the Pitt Meadows Golf Club member is all but certain to claim the individual title.

But behind her, a strong contingent of Greater Victoria golfers is making its presence known.

Emma Kral leads the local charge in solo third place at four-over (75-73-75), one shot back of Lilian Zhao for second.

The Victoria product also leads the two-player better-ball competition alongside Royal Bay香蕉视频直播檚 Vienna Scheffer. The pair sits at 12-under, three strokes clear of the next team entering Friday香蕉视频直播檚 finale.

Scheffer, currently tied for 10th overall after rounds of 78, 77, and 83, said she香蕉视频直播檚 looking to bounce back after a tough day off the tee.

The Grade 11 golfer has been training daily and has more events lined up this summer, prior to her senior year at Royal Bay. 

Anna Wu rounds out the trio of locals who made the cut. She sits in sixth place after steady rounds of 73, 81, and 73.

In total, six Greater Victoria golfers teed off to start the week, with 20 players in total making the cut after Wednesday香蕉视频直播檚 second round.

There香蕉视频直播檚 more than individual hardware at stake on Friday 香蕉视频直播 the top three finishers will earn spots on Team B.C. for the inter-provincial team competition at the Canadian Junior Girls Championship, taking place Aug. 13-16 in Sainte Marie, Que.

Earlier in the week, Kral and Scheffer helped the Zone 5 team to a dominant win in the 36-hole team event, finishing at 11-over and cruising past the Zone 2 team of Ellie Johnson and Tierra Elchuk by 19 shots.

Tee times begin at 8 a.m. on July 4, with the final trio 香蕉视频直播 including runaway leader Yu 香蕉视频直播 set to tee off at 9.

Gorge Vale香蕉视频直播檚 big tournament future is also coming into focus.

The A.V. Macan-designed course will host the 125th B.C. Men香蕉视频直播檚 Amateur Championship in 2027 to mark its 100th anniversary
