Coldstream teen high on 2-time top Canadian dance title

Rebecca Acob with Vernon's Aviemore School of Highland Dance brings home national title, again

The best in B.C. and now the best in Canada. For a second year in a row.

Rebecca Acob, 15, has been crowned a two-time Canadian Highland Dance champion.

The Coldstream resident and dedicated dancer with the Aviemore School of Highland Dance in Vernon, has once again brought home a national title Ï㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥” and some serious hometown pride.

After winning the provincial championships in May 2025, Acob earned a coveted spot on Team BC to compete at the ScotDance Canada Championship Series (SDCCS) July 5 to 9 in Ottawa.

"This prestigious, multi-day event is the highlight of the Highland dancing calendar in Canada, drawing more than 1,000 dancers from across the country and around the world Ï㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥” including competitors from Scotland, Australia, and the United States," mom Heather Acob boasts.

The SDCCS features the Canadian Championships, where top dancers from each province face off for national titles.

"Rebecca delivered a stunning performance, successfully defending her title and earning the honour of being a two-time Canadian Champion in the 14 and under 16 age category."

Her success follows years of dedication, discipline, and love for the traditional Scottish art form.

Training under the expert guidance of Cheryl Rosborough at Aviemore, she balances long hours of practice with her academic life and other commitments.

"A true testament to her passion and work ethic," said Heather.
