The Kamloops Venom held the North Okanagan Reapers to just one goal over the final 40 minutes, and rolled to a 10-4 Thompson Okanagan Junior Lacrosse League win Wednesday, June 4, at the Kamloops Memorial Arena.
The teams were tied 3-3 after the opening 20 minutes. The Venom outscored the visitors 7-1 over the final two frames.
League goals and scoring leader Nate van Unen added to his totals, pacing Kamloops with four markers. He has scored 44 goals and collected 68 points. Seamus Bankier and Beckett Smigielski each scored twice for the Venom.
Colten Colmorgen, Zack Casagrande, Jace Wasyliw, and Zack Milne scored for the Reapers, who have lost three in a row.
Riley Lockhurst made 52 saves in goal for North Okanagan while Jayce Mayall stopped 27 shots to pick up the win for Kamloops.
The Venom (8-5-1) remain in first place, one point ahead of Kelowna (7-4-2). The Kodiaks beat the South Okanagan Flames 8-6.
The Flames (6-5-2) are two points back of Kelowna, and six ahead of the Reapers (4-6). North Okanagan sits just three points up on the fifth-place Cranbrook Blackwolves (2-7-1).
The Reapers are off until Sunday, June 15, when they will host the Kodiaks at the Sunbelt Arena in Armstrong. Game time will be 6:30 p.m.
The league's All-Star Game is slated for Saturday, June 14, at the Penticton Memorial Arena.
THOMPSON OKANAGAN SENIOR LACROSSE
First place is Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµÖ±²¥“ again Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµÖ±²¥“ on the line in TOSLL Friday night, June 6, in Armstrong.
The Shamrocks and Kelowna Raiders meet for the final time in the regular season. Game time is 7:30 p.m. at the Sunbelt Arena.
Kelowna (5-1) is coming off an 18-3 thrashing of the Shamrocks five days ago at the Rutland Arena. Armstrong is 4-2, and is the only team to have beaten the Raiders this season (5-4).
There's also TOSLL action in Vernon Friday evening as the host Tigers (0-5) look to get into the win column against the visiting Kamloops Rattlers (2-3). Game time is 7:30 p.m. at Kal Tire Place.
