The Kelowna Rockets have added a major piece to their squad, signing 15-year-old Joel Ngandu to a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement.
Ngandu, a left-shot forward from Edmonton, was selected 34th overall in the second round of the 2025 WHL Prospects Draft in June. The 5-foot-11, 161-pound winger spent this past season with the Northern Alberta Xtreme U15 Prep program, scoring 17 goals and adding 29 assists for 46 points in just 35 games. He chipped in four more points during five playoff games.
He also suited up for two games with Xtreme香蕉视频直播檚 U17 Prep squad and notching an assist.
Ngandu played alongside fellow Rockets draft pick Will Kelts during the season, and the two were key contributors in the Xtreme香蕉视频直播檚 run to a championship at the prestigious 2024 John Reid Memorial Tournament. Ngandu posted two goals and four assists in six games at the event.
His strong season earned him a spot on Team Alberta Gold at the 2025 Alberta Cup, where he picked up a pair of points in five games. Most recently, he was among 80 players invited to Hockey Alberta香蕉视频直播檚 Male U16 Summer Camp in Red Deer from July 1香蕉视频直播6. That camp will help determine the final roster for Team Alberta at the 2025 WHL Cup.
