ThereÏã½¶ÊÓÆµÖ±²¥™s a new sports team in Summerland looking to reign atop the Okanagan menÏã½¶ÊÓÆµÖ±²¥™s soccer scene.
Backed by Detonate Brewing and iKhaya Day Spa, the Summerland-based club recently played its inaugural game in the South Okanagan MenÏã½¶ÊÓÆµÖ±²¥™s Soccer League.
F.C. Detonate claimed a 7-1 victory in their opening match on April 25 at PentictonÏã½¶ÊÓÆµÖ±²¥™s King Park Field.
Corey Bennett, the teamÏã½¶ÊÓÆµÖ±²¥™s goalkeeper, held SummerlandÏã½¶ÊÓÆµÖ±²¥™s opponents to just one marker. Julio Senties and Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµÖ±²¥˜LukaÏã½¶ÊÓÆµÖ±²¥™ Nyuon were among the teamÏã½¶ÊÓÆµÖ±²¥™s goalscorers.
The local club Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµÖ±²¥” coached by Jeremy Dresner Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµÖ±²¥” recently held its season-opening gala at Detonate Brewing, where sponsors, players and uniforms were unveiled.
The South Okanagan MenÏã½¶ÊÓÆµÖ±²¥™s Soccer LeagueÏã½¶ÊÓÆµÖ±²¥™s outdoor season runs from April to October, with the first-place game set for Oct. 24 at Kings Park Field.
Athletes from Osoyoos to Summerland play on the leagueÏã½¶ÊÓÆµÖ±²¥™s six teams.
Summerland soccer fans can watch F.C. Detonate take part in league play every Thursday at KingÏã½¶ÊÓÆµÖ±²¥™s Park, Fields No. 1 and 2, at 8 p.m.
