Olympians join youth, adult teams at Kelowna Water Polo Classic

Teams came from B.C. and Alberta, and players from Manitoba, Ontario, and Saskatchewan

Teams and players from across Canada took part in the Kelowna Classic Lake Water Polo Tournament in July.

The event was held July 12-13 at City Park at the site of the old aquatic pool.

Teams came from B.C. and Alberta, and players from Manitoba, Ontario, and Saskatchewan.

Two time Olympians Kindred Paul and Marianne Illing, who competed for Team Canada in the 2004 Athens Olympics, participated in the event. Illing recently founded Vernon Water Polo Club with former university player Sarah Lauman.

Divisions included 14U, 16U, and Adult Recreation (competitive and social). Competitive adult teams featured players talent from UBC, SFU, and Vancouver clubs.

Kelowna players competed alongside international guests in the host team.
