Lake CountryÏã½¶ÊÓÆµÖ±²¥™s George Elliot Secondary School Coyotes launched the 2017 boysÏã½¶ÊÓÆµÖ±²¥™ volleyball season in style, winning not one but two tournaments.
Chris FrehlickÏã½¶ÊÓÆµÖ±²¥™s senior boys team went undefeated throughout the weekendÏã½¶ÊÓÆµÖ±²¥”Sept. 22 and 23Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµÖ±²¥”to capture gold at the Pen Hi LakersÏã½¶ÊÓÆµÖ±²¥™ tournament, defeating Vernon Secondary in the finals.
ElliotÏã½¶ÊÓÆµÖ±²¥™s Brandon Frechette was named the tournamentÏã½¶ÊÓÆµÖ±²¥™s MVP, while Tom Parish was selected as an all-star and top libero.
The GESS junior A boys were also tournament champions, claiming the inaugural UBCO Heat junior high school tournament.
The Coyotes came together quickly after having only one real practice, served well and battled hard to finish each point.
The GESS boys lost just one match during the tournament to Penticton Secondary but made amends beating the Lakers as the teams met once again in the championship final.
They too were undefeated in all matches except against Penticton Secondary in an early round robin. GESS Junior A Coyotes met Penticton again in the finals only this time to bring home the win and top title!
