Seven of 12 local teams earned medals at the 2017 edition of the Valley of Champions baseball tournament.
The West Kelowna DÏã½¶ÊÓÆµÖ±²¥™Backs captured the gold medal in the 18U division, defeating Prince George 3-1 in SundayÏã½¶ÊÓÆµÖ±²¥™s final. The DÏã½¶ÊÓÆµÖ±²¥™Backs, who finished the tourney at 4-1, avenged an earlier 13-2 loss to Prince George in the round robin.

This yearÏã½¶ÊÓÆµÖ±²¥™s Valley of Champions tournament featured 70 teams from B.C. and Alberta, with players from 10 to 18 years of age competing in four age divisions.
The profits from the tournament go back to the local associations for baseball development in the community, including coaches training, umpire development, grass roots as well as elite player development.
