The Town of Qualicum Beach's tap water has been named 'Best of the Best' in the .
The event was hosted by the BC Water & Waste Association during its annual conference at end of April in Victoria. It had water providers from across B.C. and the Yukon to compete for the highest quality tap water taste.
The competition is held to raise awareness of the importance of our water systems in protecting public health and the environment.
The winning sample, drawn from a regular residential faucet, was entered by the Qualicum Beach's manager of operations Chris Stanger.
A panel of impartial judges evaluated samples based on appearance, aroma, taste, mouth feel, aftertaste and overall impression. All water samples had to comply with the province's drinking water guidelines.
Although confident of the high quality of the town's water, Stanger was not prepared for the outstanding praise from judges and participants as the town not only won in its population category (Small Water System), but also achieved the highest score of all categories 香蕉视频直播 outperforming cities with populations more than 100,000 and with more sophisticated systems. Other winners were the Capital Regional District (Large Water System) and District of Hope (Medium Water System).

A presentation of the award was made to Stanger at the town's council meeting on May 14.
The town draws its water from two aquifers; the River wellfield and the Berwick wellfield. Both wellfields are high quality and quantity groundwater sources that requires minimal chemical treatment. The primary supply comes from the River wellfield, with the Berwick wellfield rested over the winter season when water demands are low, supplying additional water during peak summer demands.
The River wellfield is a high production aquifer in the delta of the Little Qualicum River that provides a sustainable production of water before it overflows into the ocean.
