QUIZ: In praise of fresh summer peaches

Peaches ripen on the trees in a Summerland orchard. Fruit picking is happening in orchards around the Okanagan Valley in late summer and into the fall as the various fruit varieties are now ready for harvest.

In August, tree fruits are ripening in Canada, and farmers are harvesting peaches. 

The month of August is designated as National Peach Month, and Aug. 22 is National Eat a Peach Day. 

The fruit, grown in Canada and around the world, is eaten fresh, used in desserts, made into wine and cider and can even be pickled.
