'World's largest floating toy box' draws eyes off southern B.C. coast

Two super yachts spotted off Oak Bay.

Those sunbathing on the eastern shores of the Greater Victoria area on Monday may have noticed something out of the ordinary floating in the water.

Two super yachts owned by 56-year-old Las Vegas entrepreneur Lorenzo Fertitta, who Forbes says sold his stake in the Ultimate Fighting Championship for billions in 2016 and 2017, were seen anchored in Oak Bay.

The larger of the two vessels Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµÖ±²¥“ the 87-metre Lonian Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµÖ±²¥“ can accommodate dozens of passengers and crew, and even a helicopter.

The Hodor Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµÖ±²¥“ a 66-metre, catamaran-style support craft Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµÖ±²¥“ sailed in tow. It can carry jet skis, quad bikes, ATVs, motorcycles, dinghies and, of course, another helicopter, according to Boat International magazine, which called the craft "the world's largest floating toy box."

According to vessel tracking website marinetraffic.com, the boats left Pender IslandÏã½¶ÊÓÆµÖ±²¥™s Bedwell Harbour for Oak Bay on Thursday, July 24.
