Lakehouse Cooking School has announced available classes for September and October.
The culinary classes are continuing despite the closure of the retail space, Lakehouse Home Store on Bernard Avenue in Kelowna.
Owner and operator Chef Travis Pye explained that the school opened during the COVID-19 pandemic on the second floor of the retail shop.
"Kudos to Ben and Sue [Boschman] for leaving this legacy behind," Pye noted, that the business had been operating for 15 years. "Unfortunately, the retail part of the business wasn't as sustainable as the success we've had in the cooking school, so they have moved on."
The cooking school now offers 135 different classes, including kids' camps.
The hands-on kitchen has 12 stations where people are walked through how to make the chosen cuisine. After the class sits down to enjoy the meal together in the dining area. Another class option is the Chef's Theatre, where guests can enjoy wine or beer and engage with the chef while the food is being made.
Pye said the cafe continues to operate, offering coffee, pastries, wine, beer, and more. A retail store is also in the works.
"We're still kind of reimagining what the future will look like with that, but we're working on a more curated focus of items that we use in our cooking school."
