Following a successful event, the District of Sicamous Development Corporation (DOSDC) is sold on holding another Community Yard Sale.

In a report to council at the June 25 Committee of the Whole meeting, tourism and economic development coordinator Carly Procyshyn said the first of what they hope to make an annual event was well received, despite being a last minute plan.

"We pulled this together in under a month,香蕉视频直播 she said, adding they advertised it through a community wide mail out and posters. 香蕉视频直播淥ur web page actually had 312 visits in two weeks specifically to the community yard sale page.香蕉视频直播

Procyshyn said the yard sale, held May 24 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., had 15 participants, two of which were last minute so didn't end up paying the $5 to be on the map. The $65 the DOSDC did earn through that, however, was donated to the Eagle Valley Community Resource Centre.

She said the overall feedback was positive, with just a few suggestions on how to improve the yard sale for 2026 "to make this an annual event." Those points included making the maps easier to read, have more paper copies available, and having a central location for people who don't want to, or are unable to, host a yard sale at their property.

From that, added Procyshyn, the goal for 2026 is to extend the marketing reach "to encourage visitation from Revelstoke to Vernon and across the entire Shuswap region," and to encourage local businesses to get involved as well "to drive awareness to their locations."

Despite the few tweaks needed, Procyshyn summed up the first Community Yard Sale as a cost effective event that had a positive impact.

"So, a very cost neutral activity that delivered some great results and great community engagement."
