Okanagan brewery brings back special lager to support firefighters

Penticton's Cannery Brewing has partnered with partnered with the Canadian Fallen Firefighters Foundation to bring back the Wildfire Dark Lager.

As crews fight wildfires across B.C. and Canada, a longtime Penticton business is offering their token of appreciation by unveiling a special brew.

Cannery Brewing has brought back its limited edition Wildfire Dark Lager, a fundraising beer that will support the Canadian Fallen Firefighters Foundation (CFFF).

The brew is being released as a tribute to firefighters and emergency service workers across Canada, with a portion of its sales set to go to CFFF.

"As we have with each batch of Wildfire beer, this fundraising beer helps support the very important work of the CFFF," said Ross Thompson, Cannery Brewing co-owner and head brewer. "Every person who fights these wildfires puts themselves in danger every day to keep us all safe. The CFFF works hard to honour and remember those who have died in the line of duty."

Wildfire Dark Lager can be purchased at Cannery Brewing, 198 Ellis St., and select liquor stores across B.C. and Alberta.

Like it has for more than a decade, Cannery has partnered with CFFF to help bring its fundraiser to life.

香蕉视频直播淥n behalf of CFFF, it has been an honour to have partnered with Cannery Brewing for more than 12 years with their incredible wildfire beers," CFFF ambassador Wayne Jasper said. "Over the years, the label artwork alone has paid respect to the tireless efforts of our firefighters."

Cannery Brewing describes the beer as a "light, refreshing North American Lager with additional flavour and complexity resulting from a darker malted barley."

There are currently 83 active wildfires burning across B.C., as of the morning of Aug. 15. A total of 906 blazes, meanwhile, have scorched 700,000 hectares this wildfire season (since April 1, 2025).

"(Cannery Brewing's) generous donations of a portion of the proceeds have gone towards the CFFF香蕉视频直播檚 goals to Honour, Remember and Support those Canadian firefighters that have died in the line of duty and their families," Jasper added. "We would like to extend our sincerest thanks to everyone at Cannery Brewing for their ongoing support."
