A fierce but fun competition took place at Kelowna's MNP Place for a good cause on Thursday, May 22.
The second annual Hockey for the Homeless (HHTH) Okanagan Region pro-am charity hockey tournament took over the arena's two rinks to raise money for Boys and Girls Club Okanagan to help prevent youth homelessness.
Eight teams registered for the tournament and each team was assigned a retired professional hockey player. Some of the former stars who played on Thursday were Shea Weber, Brad May, Rene Bourque, Todd Simpson, Wade Redden, Corey Cross, and Brady Leavold. Former Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price coached Weber's team.
While the action was taking place on the ice, a silent auction was ongoing where people could bid on items in person or online.
It's unknown at this time how much money was raised.
