Fresh, locally-grown vegetables and flowers, along with heartfelt, handmade items, will fill the streets of Princeton this weekend.

The Princeton Community Market & Plaza Party, presented by the Princeton & District Chamber of Commerce, kicks off another season on May 3 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Veterans Square. The family-friendly event will run all summer long until Sept. 27.

The market will begin with a pancake breakfast hosted by the Legion, followed by live music from Terri Bremner, and will also include a Mother's Day basket raffle and 50/50 tickets, a visit from puppies from Our Last Hope Animal Rescue, a raffle basket, music and much more. The 50/50 proceeds will go to the Princeton Volunteer Fire Brigade.

Many vendors and store specials will be present at the Plaza Party and there will be goodie bags for children as well.

Lord Hamilton Gardens will provide a full grocery list of items, such as garlic powder, celery powder, beetroot powder, scape powder, dried scapes, celery leaf, minced roasted garlic, celery salt, canned products, pickled beets, bread and butter pickles, and sweet mustard relish. They will also have some starter plants available such as beef steak tomatoes, marigolds and celery.

Ross Edwards will have handcrafted items available, such as birdhouses, chairs, rocking horses, shelves, crates, rummoli games and more.

Local flower grower and florist Fern's Field will have freshly cut flowers for all occasions, including Mother's Day pre-orders.

"The tulips want to leave the field and come sit on your table," Fern's Field posted on their Facebook page.

Trophies and engraving shop Out West Laser will have custom crafts, jewellery and watches.

Miranda's Kitchen will provide some more food selections, with jam jelly, pickles and preserves, as well as soaps, giftware, and homemade natural dog biscuits and chews.

Mother and Child Boutique, a specialty shop for infants, children and mothers, will have a full selection of beautiful and quality products.

Shelly's Bannock Food Truck will be at the plaza during lunchtime, and special treats like Chester's Chicken deals and ice cream vouchers from Dairy Queen will also be available along with FireSmart information sessions to round out the day.

"Come visit our amazing vendors for great products and gifts," the chamber of commerce stated.
