PHOTOS: 10 things to do, see, eat at 2025 PNE, plus new attractions

'115 years of fun' continues at fair site in Vancouver starting Saturday, Aug. 16

The 2025 PNE Fair starts Saturday (Aug. 16) and continues until Sept. 1, signalling the end of summer (well, kinda) with a wide range of entertainment at the landmark site in East Vancouver.

This year's PNE, advertised as "115 years of fun, 1910-2025," boasts some familiar attractions and also new shows.

Here are 10 things to experience at the 2025 fair:

1. The PNE's fancy  (Freedom Mobile Arch) won't be ready until next summer, so it's back to the Pacific Coliseum (aka Chevrolet Stage) for the annual  starting with Counting Crows on Saturday night (Aug. 16). Some other hot tickets are Lynyrd Skynyrd (Aug. 17), Leon Bridges (Aug. 23), Gipsy Kings featuring Nicolas Reyes (Aug. 20) and Flo Rida (Aug. 22), who returns to the PNE after  a year ago. Tickets start at $59.25 (a fee that includes fair admission) on . Check out the full list of concerts on .

2. Food is a big part of the PNE, of course, and wine pairings are featured this year. Does an onion-filled hamburger from Jimmy's Lunch taste delicious with cabernet sauvignon from Black Sage? Yes, it does Ï㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥” just as well as cinnamon-covered mini doughnuts with a sip of sparkling wine from Saintly. Such pairings are approved by Andy Chong, the PNE's new B.C.-raised executive chef, and wine expert Carissa Palangio. The fair's  features new and unique bites including Buffaloed chicken from Real Mac & Cheese, bacon-studded Lumberjack Stack served by Waffle Wagon and Lobster Tail Poutine cooked up by Rotato Potato.

3. New to the PNE is Sands of Wonder, an international sand sculpting showcase located along Miller Drive. It's a chance to watch world-class sculptors (from around the globe, naturally) transform towering mounds of sand into impressive works of art, live and in real time. The sand masters include David Billings (exhibit organizer and creative director), Damon Langlois (world record-holder), Chou Sheng Chiang (founder of Jin Yen Sand Sculpture Company and Sand Studio in Taiwan) and several others. 5. At the PNE Lagoon, located next to Playland, the new aerial I-Flip Show offers cutting-edge structure and breathtaking stunts including aerial bungee, tramp-wall, power track, and a 50-foot-high fall into a custom made airbag. Can you feel the suspense? Catch three shows daily at 12:30, 3:15 and 5:30 p.m. Not to be outdone at the Lagoon stage are The Flying Fools High Dive Show, daily shows at 2, 4:30 and 7 p.m.

6. Presented by Canoe Cultures Society, the 2025 Tatus Festival will take place Aug. 29 and 30, showcasing 127 Indigenous artists with performances on the Festival Stage, including headliners Crystal Shawanda and George Leach. Also look for Indigenous food trucks and a large art and craft marketplace. Tatus Festival is the centrepiece of the fair-long Canoe Cultures activation, running daily.
