The B.C. government has announced funding towards a First Nations-led treatment centre to be built near Hanceville, west of Williams Lake.

A press release sent on Aug. 13, states the province will be putting in $8.3 million to support a partnership between the T艥ilhqot香蕉视频直播檌n National Government (TNG) and Red Road Recovery.

Red Road Recovery operates three other treatment facilities in Sorrento, Lumby, and Salmon Arm according to their website, and is developing another in Terrace, B.C.

香蕉视频直播淭he Red Road River T艥ilhqox model represents an important step forward, offering culturally grounded, First-Nations-led treatment and recovery supports that ensure people can access care in a space that honours their identity, experiences and healing journey,香蕉视频直播 said Josie Osborne, Minister of Health in the press release. Osborne also acknowledged how deeply impacted Indigenous communities have been by the ongoing toxic drug crisis.

The press release states the plan is to use both traditional treatment and land-based healing integrating T艥ilhqot香蕉视频直播檌n culture. The provincial funding is meant to support 10 beds dedicated to supportive recovery (pre-treatment), 15 beds dedicated to treatment and recovery through the T艥ilhqot香蕉视频直播檌n Healing and Wellness Centre; and 10 beds dedicated to after-care, reintegration and long-term healing.

"This funding reflects our collective effort and answers our call to the health authorities to expand treatment options. This is a positive step in addressing the toxic-drug crisis in our communities and supporting healthier families for future generations,香蕉视频直播 said Nits香蕉视频直播檌l蕯in  (Chief) Otis Guichon, tribal chief of the T艥ilhqot香蕉视频直播檌n National Government.

The services will be provided at two T艥ilhqot香蕉视频直播檌n-owned properties near Hanceville, approximately 100 kilometres west of Williams Lake, helping provide a treatment option for T艥ilhqot香蕉视频直播檌n Nation communities and other Indigenous people closer to home.

香蕉视频直播淲e believe true healing begins when people are connected to culture, land and community. The Red Road River T艥ilhqox project is a powerful response developed in partnership with the T艥ilhqot香蕉视频直播檌n Nation," said Scott Tremblett, CEO of Red Road Recovery. He said the project has been developed in partnership with TNG and is "rooted in tradition, identity and lifelong recovery.香蕉视频直播

The anticipated opening of the Red Road River T艥ilhqox project is late fall 2025. While construction is underway, the province is also  funding two private treatment and recovery beds at the Red Road Ranch in Lumby, for use by T艥ilhqot香蕉视频直播檌n community members.

The T艥ilhqot香蕉视频直播檌n National Government declared a state of local emergency in response to the effects of the toxic-drug crisis on their nation in April 2024.

A letter of understanding between the T艥ilhqot香蕉视频直播檌n Nation and the province was subsequently signed in September of 2024 with a commitment to initiate specific priority actions to support wellness.  The TNG proposed a First-Nations-led healing and wellness model which provides a continuum of care while integrating Indigenous culture and knowledge.

香蕉视频直播淪truggling with addiction can be a lonely difficult path. We know it is in community where the healing starts. Working in partnership with the T艥ilhqot香蕉视频直播檌n National Government to create healing spaces for connection, safety and recovery will lead to stronger, healthier communities, and help people get their lives back,香蕉视频直播 said Spencer Chandra Herbert, Minister of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation.

The T艥ilhqot香蕉视频直播檌n National Government represents six main T艥ilhqot香蕉视频直播檌n communities: Tl香蕉视频直播檈tinqox (Anaham), T艥ideldel (Redstone), Yune艥it香蕉视频直播檌n (Stone), Xeni Gwet香蕉视频直播檌n (Nemiah), 蕯Esdilagh (Alexandria) and Tl香蕉视频直播檈sqox (Toosey).
