In a move that signals both growth and renewed commitment, the Central Okanagan Food Bank (COFB) is relocating its West Kelowna operations to a new, more accessible facility.

The location, at 203-3710 Hoskins Road, opens its doors on Tuesday, May 27, and promises to better serve the increasing number of individuals and families facing food insecurity in the region.

At more than double the space of the previous location, the new building allows COFB to implement a partial choice model香蕉视频直播攁n approach that lets clients select part of their food hampers based on availability, dietary needs, and personal preferences.

This promotes dignity and autonomy but also helps reduce food waste and encourages healthier eating habits.

The COFB has launched a $120,000 fundraising campaign to equip the new facility, and the WUBS Family Foundation has pledged $60,000 in matching funds, effectively doubling the impact of every donation.

While the Hoskins Road location is a major step forward, COFB envisions establishing a permanent 香蕉视频直播渇orever home香蕉视频直播 in West Kelowna and eventually developing a food transformation hub. It would focus on equitable food distribution and address systemic economic challenges in the region.

According to Food Banks Canada, food bank usage across the country has reached record highs, with over two million visits in March 2023香蕉视频直播攁 32 per cent increase from the previous year.

The COFB currently serves over 4,000 individuals monthly.

A launch event is set for June 3 from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the new West Kelowna location.
