More than 1,700 new student spaces are being added to the province, with 165 of them going to a West Kelowna elementary school.
On Friday, May 30, the B.C. Government announced construction started earlier this year on many new classrooms across the province. West Kelowna's Chief Tomat Elementary is one of the schools receiving new spaces of seven new classrooms, totalling 165 new student spaces.

Langley, Abbotsford, qathet (Powell River), Comox, Nanaimo, Pemberton and Prince Rupert are also receiving new student spaces.
The project funded by the province totals $340 million.
