An early morning house fire in West Kelowna on Monday (June 2) resulted in no injuries, thanks to a quick response from emergency crews and the safe evacuation of residents.

West Kelowna Fire Rescue responded to reports of a fire in the 800-block of Franwill Road, near Ogden Rd., at approximately 7:30 a.m. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered smoke and visible flames coming from the second floor of the home.

Crews quickly contained the blaze to the upper level. All occupants, including pets, were able to get out safely.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

It was the second house fire in five days in the community. On May 29, a blaze caused extensive damage to a four-unit duplex on Boucherie Road.

One person suffered minor smoke-related injuries and a cat was saved from the burning building.
