PHOTOS: First summer glimpses of Mount Revelstoke's summit lakes

Take a scenic drive and calm woodland walk to Mount Revelstoke National Park's trio of subalpine lakes

Now that Parks Canada has waived admission fees for all its sites this summer, it's the perfect time for Revelstokians to get to know or revisit the wonders of their namesake mountain.

With Mount Revelstoke National Park opening the remaining 14 kilometres of its Meadows in the Sky Parkway to motor vehicles last Thursday, June 26, summer marks the easiest and most marvellous season to visit the peak's subalpine lakes.

Snow may still remain in patches for a couple more weeks along the six-kilometre trail from the park summit to Eva, Jade and Miller lakes, but early mornings once the parkway has opened at 8 a.m. remain quiet times to visit.

See photos of these glassy lakes from the first week of tourism to the heart of Mount Revelstoke this sunny summer.

Consider making your own visit to catch the morning songs of birds and furry flashes of hoary marmots.

For the latest trail conditions, visit .
