Suspected 30-year-old Armstrong man arrested in relation to double tragedy that killed 19 and 20 year olds

BC Highway Patrol has arrested a suspect driver who left the scene of a crash that killed two men near Armstrong Saturday.

Now, police are looking for more witnesses and dash-camera video to explain exactly how the tragedy unfolded.

The collision happened July 12, 2025, at about 1:30 a.m., when two full-size pickups (a black GMC Sierra and a tan Chevrolet) crashed head-on near Spallumcheen on Highway 97A.

The tan Chevrolet contained four people; two of the passengers, a 19-year-old Vernon man, and a 20-year-old Coldstream man, did not survive the collision.

The man who was driving the black GMC Sierra, and a passenger, left the scene on foot without identifying themselves to witnesses or police. Later that same day, a 30-year-old Armstrong man, who is believed to be the suspect driver, was arrested in relation to the crash.
