The Placer Creek Wildfire has been one of the largest wildfires within the Kamloops Fire Centre香蕉视频直播檚 coverage area so far in 2025.

While wildfires are burning in British Columbia, most parts of the province do not have campfire bans in place.

As of July 24, campfires are prohibited in much of the Coastal Fire Centre香蕉视频直播檚 region, but are allowed in the rest of the province.

Since April 1, the start of the wildfire season in British Columbia, there have been 607 wildfires, burning 722,909 hectares.

Taylor Colman, fire information officer with the Kamloops Fire Centre, said fire officials are monitoring conditions daily to determine if a campfire ban is needed in this area.

She said the fire season in this region has been less destructive than in past years.

The 10-year average has 181 fires and 29,000 hectares destroyed as of July 24.

This year, 120 fires have been recorded in the Kamloops Fire Centre, with 3,616 hectares burned.

Of the fires recorded this year, 33 have been the result of lightning strikes, while 85 are of suspected human cause.

Colman said the lightning pattern this year has often been accompanied by rainfall.
