The municipality of Summerland paid more than $9.6 million to its employees in 2024.
The annual Statement of Financial Information listed a total of $9,659,202.68 in remuneration paid over the past year.
In addition, municipal employees had a total of $175,850.16 in expenses.
By comparison, the wages paid to municipal employees in 2023 were lower, at $9,396,305.44.
Under provincial legislation, all employees with remuneration greater than $75,000 are required to be named, along with their titles, wages and expenses.
The municipality has a total of 59 employees earning more than $75,000, with 25 exempt staff, four International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers members and 30 Canadian Union of Public Employees members. By comparison, there were 60 municipal employees on this list in 2023.
The list included $6,108,764.09 paid to those employees earning more than $75,000 a year and $3,396,415.74 for those with compensation of less than $75,000 a year.
The highest-paid member of municipal staff was Graham Statt, chief administrative officer for the municipality. His remuneration came to $195,924.86 for the year.
According to figures from Statistics Canada, the median total income for all families in British Columbia was $101,520 in 2022.
Under the province香蕉视频直播檚 Financial Information Act, municipalities are required to prepare a Statement of Financial Information, to be filed with the Ministry of Municipal Affairs. The deadline this year is June 30.
