Berg wins Ultraman Canada in South Okanagan

8 competitors participated in the 3-day triathlon event

Barry Berg香蕉视频直播檚 number one race bib in the Ultraman Canada triathlon told the story of his performance in the intense three-day competition.

On each day and in each leg of the event, he was the top finisher, and on July 27, he was the first to cross the finish line at the Dale Meadows Sports Complex in Summerland.

The three-day race started in Naramata on July 25 with a 10-kilometre swim portion, followed by a 144 km bike.

On the second day, participants cycled another 276 kilometres, followed by a run of 84.4 kilometres on the third day. 

Berg, 58, was one of eight competitors in this year香蕉视频直播檚 race. Participants came from Canada, the United States, Mexico and Japan.

According to Berg, the most challenging part of the three-day race was the run. The distance is a double marathon, which includes elevation gains and steep downhill portions.

In addition, running this distance after two consecutive days of effort is tiring, he said.

Although the distance was gruelling, the weather on July 27 was good for a run, with temperatures in the low 20s. In previous competitions of this distance, he has had to deal with temperatures in the high 30s, adding another element to the race.

In each leg of the race, Berg was the first finisher.

On the first day, his swim time was 2:39:24 and his bike time was 4:51:37, for a total of 7:31:02. On the second day, he completed the bike portion in 8:47:29. On the third day, he finished the 84.4 km run with a time of 8:18:14.

His overall time for all three days was 24:20:45.

Berg, a real estate agent from Vancouver, has competed in other triathlons including Ironman Canada, the Ironman World Championship in Hawaii, Ultraman Canada which he won in 2021 and the Ultraman World Championship.

The other competitors in the event were Rob Gibson, 62 of Canada; Ramiro Gutierrez Piedra, 58 of Mexico; Jenny Hayes, 43 of the United States; Naomichi Ide, 42 of Japan; Fred Lambright, 55 of Canada; Miku Ujita, 26 of Japan and Lydia Walter, 30 of the United States.
