The conclusion of two B.C. high school basketball tournaments last weekend ended with Keremeos on top.
Similkameen Elementary Secondary SchoolÏã½¶ÊÓÆµÖ±²¥™s senior girlsÏã½¶ÊÓÆµÖ±²¥™ and boysÏã½¶ÊÓÆµÖ±²¥™ teams took home first-place hardware after winning each of their final games at tournaments away from home.
While the girlsÏã½¶ÊÓÆµÖ±²¥™ squad won their tournament north of Kamloops in Barriere, the boys powered past Merritt in the finals to win the Nicola Valley-hosted, 12-team tournament.
The Keremeos girlsÏã½¶ÊÓÆµÖ±²¥™ team clinched first after defeating Barriere in the finals, 39-37.
The boysÏã½¶ÊÓÆµÖ±²¥™ reign atop the Merritt tournament Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµÖ±²¥” which also included victories against Vernon Christian and Pleasant Valley Secondary Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµÖ±²¥” marks the second time in as many months the team has returned home with first-place hardware.
On Dec. 9, the team captured first at the annual Barriere Cougar Classic.
In BC High School Boys BasketballÏã½¶ÊÓÆµÖ±²¥™s latest rankings released Jan. 24, the Keremeos team finds itself third in the BC 1A Rankings, behind schools from Chilliwack and Langley.
