Vernon endurance run gains national recognition

Brokenagan 24 hour ultra July 26 at Sovereign Lake Nordic Centre

One of B.C.'s most beautiful backdrop-events has earned Canadian status.

The Brokenagan Backyard Ultra takes to the trails of Sovereign Lake Nordic Centre Saturday, July 26.

It is recognized as a Bronze Ticket event by the Backyard Ultra World Championships. That means the winner is guaranteed a spot on the Canadian National Leaderboard and the top performance is considered toward Team Canada selection for the Big Dog's Backyard Ultra World Team Championship. It is one of nine Canadian Bronze Ticket Events.

The Brokenagan is a 24-hour endurance run on a 4.17-mile loop course where participants will run as many laps as possible until only one runner remains.

"This format allows runners to set their own pace and strategy Ï㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥” take short breaks, long breaks, or even enjoy a pizza between loops," advises Bush Babes & Bro's Trail Running, event host.

"Whether you're solo or part of a team, this is your chance to push your limits and test your endurance."
