After Kelowna RCMP handing out nearly 50 tickets in one day, the Municipal Traffic Services Unit is planning to increase their regular enforcement actions.
On Tuesday, May 27, an increased police presence resulted in 49 ticket violations passed out by the RCMP in their effort to target unsafe drivers and create safer streets.
The violations included:
- 22 tickets for speeding contrary to the posted limit;
- 11 distracted driving related tickets for use of an electronic device while driving;
- 1 ticket for no insurance;
- 1 ticket for no drivers licence;
- 14 other Motor Vehicle Act offences.

Kelowna RCMP added they will continue to work with partners like the Integrated Road Safety Unit to focus on reducing these risks and keeping the public safe. Increased traffic enforcement is expected throughout the summer.
