Community rallies for stricken Vernon RCMP officer

Const. Kevin Hamilton, longtime member and community supporter, suffers devastating stroke

He's there for the RCMP showing community support.

Whether it's playing softball or basketball against Vernon's Special Olympics squads, or volunteering at countless events, Const. Kevin Hamilton has served his community well.

Now, the community can help out Hamilton and his family.

Hamilton suffered a devastating stroke May 15. The stroke has affected his vision, speech, and his short-term memory. He was transferred to Kelowna General Hospital where he remains, undergoing a litany of tests and scans that allow his doctors and nurses to find the best solution they can to help Hamilton in his long road to recovery.

Chad Gravelle has known Hamilton for nearly two decades, both attending the RCMP training depot together, just a couple of troops apart. Gravelle has organized a to help Hamilton and his family. The goal is to raise $50,000. As of Tuesday, May 27, nearly half of that had been donated.

"Kevin is a proud father of four, a devoted husband, who has been serving our community as an RCMP member of the North Okanagan for the last 18 years," said Gravelle. "Kevin had been an active member of the PAC committee for many years. He is always the first person in line to help those in need, going above and beyond to ensure everyone carries a smile on their face. Kevin香蕉视频直播檚 personality is truly one of a kind.

"We as a community, are rallying together to help take some of the financial burden off of the Hamilton family for fuel expenses, medical equipment he will require when he gets to come home, and any other unexpected expenses they will endure as they navigate the uncertainty road of recovery."

Hill's wife Chandra is overwhelmed and grateful for the community's support and encouragement.

"I will never be able to thank everyone enough for all the support, love and donations that have been given and will continue to give," she said. "Who knew that we would have such a huge village helping us fight this battle" It means more than you know and I appreciate each and every one of you.
